Social Media influencers have taken the world by storm through their massive followings and relatable content on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, and even Snapchat. Influencers can be someone who we fall in love with and connect with, who entertains us and inspires us, and who can recommend advice, products, or services that may resolve an issue for us. They connect with us on a more personal level than a company or corporation would. They are people just like you and me, and they understand the importance of connections with their audiences.
Influencer Marketing
An Influencer is an individual who starts by entertaining a small audience with relatable content and then grows that audience to impeccable heights. They could start by creating content around product and service reviews, dancing videos, how-to videos, make-up tutorials, etc. In order to become an Influencer, the content must gain the attention of the audience, and the following count must reach into the thousands if not millions. The Influencer must reach an impressive following to gain the attention of the company, which in turn would offer either money or benefits for the Influencer to review or promote their products.
Influencer Strategies
The strategies of an influencer are pretty simple. They get to produce their original content that shows their personality and authentic self while remaining transparent about their opinions and views of the product or service being promoted. They may wear name-brand apparel or try products on and off the screen (typically in front of the audience) and then publish their reviews via post or short-form video. There is a risk in allowing an Influencer into your brand and that risk could lead to an honest review. This means that an Influencer could negatively review your product if he or she feels that it is appropriate. An Influencer must be transparent and honest with their audience, this is how they became popular in the first place, and it would be in bad character and unethical to ask them to lie for the sack of your brand.
Influencers in Marketing & Their Impact
When it comes to the role of the influencer in marketing, the benefits outrank the negative. The audience reach alone would increase the business’ online traffic, increase sales, boost brand awareness, and more in a matter of seconds. The role of the Influencer is to take the product or service and present it to their large following. Depending on if the review is positive or negative could determine whether the business succeeds or fails. There is a risk there, but you need to have trust in your Influencer and trust that they know what their audience is looking for. There is a relationship between the Influencer and his audience, and you need to build a positive relationship between the brand and the Influencer. By creating a positive working relationship with the Influencer, the impact is going to show a positive outcome for your company. Success is built around trust and transparency. Let the Influencers do what they do best.
